    This blog will explain the basics of how a student filmmaker can create intense Hollywood action sequences similar to the video above. The talent in our short film had limited experience with combat, but with a bit of training coupled with rehearsal and some editing tricks, we were able to pull of an exciting fight sequence. (I hope you’d enjoyed it anyway). As we continue to create our 13 episode web series, we will be teaming up with Bamboo Kung Fu School this month to help the actors get into their roles by going through some fight training sessions with Master Kin Sze!       Every summer Toronto is home to  numerous outdoor screenings. Many run weekly all summer, and with so many spots the schedule can be a little overwhelming. I’ve been working on several visual effects shots for a few projects over the past year. I am currently wrapping up a short film about a mother who fights against all odds to save her dying daughter, check out our page to learn more. Here’s a basic run down of achieving this effect: A) Controlled Movements. Therefore, no extravagant camera work where it’s panning or moving around a lot. Once you have taken your shot, you will need to track it. The matte painting technique will usually be done in 2D , so the tracking data can be collected via softwares like Mocha.     On April 16, 2016 I competed in the Ontario Technical Skills Competition Qualifiers. 16 teams that had also won their regional competitions then gathered at Humber college to compete. The goal was to create a 30 second PSA about how to reduce your carbon footprint. Unfortunately, my partner and I did not place so we could not move on. While editing our PSA I noticed that we had made some mistakes when we were shooting, and due to time constraints were unable to go back and re-shoot the scenes. I noticed that there were some out of focus shots, and some cuts we were planning to do ended up being awkward and out of place. These mistakes may have cost us the competition. I was upset with the mistakes, but I was even more upset that I was responsible for the out of focus shots, and awkward cuts. I hadn’t thought out …
