Today, you can transfer your tapes with a camcorder with your personal computer. The concept is simple. You will need to take the output signal from the source (VHS player, hi-8 camcorder) and connect it into the input connection from the camcorder that has a firewire connection. The firewire connection will connect to the computer. This will change the analogue signal to digital. You will need an appropriate software such as Adobe Premiere to capture the footage into the computer. For 1 hour of footage it will take up approximately 24 GB capturing in AVI.

Another alternative way is to purchase a DVD Recorder which will capture your video and write it directly onto the DVD.

For more information on video transfer visit us at www.azureproduction.com

$1 DVD/CD Duplication Services?

Anyone interested in $1 DVD/CD Duplication Services? You can either keep the menu tree or remove it by right clicking on your mouse and select delete
4. Under the menu tabs, locate "Make DVD" select "burn".
5. Locate the file in which you want to save it to. Select Next.
6. Name your DVD. Burn at 8X. Select your DVD burner. Place a DVD into your DVD writer. If there is some one that you work with that you are very close to, that is one thing but inviting 100 people from the office is just a waste of your money on the invitations because only the ones that you are close to will come anyway.

* The first step in wedding planning is deciding how much money you are going to spend and make a budget. When planning your wedding budget allow 25% more for extras that you haven't planned for.

* Order the invitations four months in advance. Invitations should be mailed four to six weeks in advance. Take the invitations to the post office to be weighted for sufficient postage.

* On your wedding day bring along an emergency kit with a needle and thread, safety pins, hairpins, hairspray, nail polish and extra pantyhose.

* Start shopping for a wedding dress six months in advance. You will need several fittings before it is perfect.

* Do your hair and makeup before putting on your wedding dress.

* Plan your honeymoon six months in advance. Make all arrangements and reservations well in advance. * If your budget is small, share your joy and happiness with only family and your closest friends.

* When selecting a caterer try to sample their food before hiring them. If it is a restaurant, go there to have dinner before you hire them.

* Invitations should always be addressed by pen, preferably a black fountain pen.
More at Wedding tips. Wedding videography services. Over the decades while film was the only way to capture moving pictures a few enterprising individuals would take out the family 8mm camera and film the weddings of friends and family. These film cameras were limited by their short load times for the film, high cost of processing and the fact the majority of them could not record sound to the film. But there were a few individuals who had turned the documentation of weddings into a business.

1980 saw the introduction of the first consumer camcorders by Sony, with other manufacturers soon following suit. With the introduction of these first camcorders wedding video documentation evolved from something for the rich or celebrity into something for the masses. Early adopters were primarily hobbyists who, at first started recording the weddings of friends and family, then went on to do jobs for pay.

The early days of professional wedding videography was primitive at best. The equipment was generally of low technical quality. Cameras required bright lights, had fuzzy pictures, poor color saturation and mono audio recorded with cheap microphones that didn't reproduce good audio quality. The cameras were bulky with the camera being a separate unit that connected to the video recorder via a cable. Many wedding videos weren't edited in post production and those that were, were primitively edited at best, usually just removing the mistakes. If titles were added you were lucky if they were legible. Generation loss (the copying of a copy, and so forth) was also a major problem with analog video tape. Each time you recorded the video to a new tape, it caused errors to build up and picture and sound to degrade.

From its earliest days and through the 1980s Wedding Videography had a negative reputation of being an interference on the festivities. The bright lights required to produce a quality image were damaging to the mood many brides and grooms wanted to have. As the market expanded, it was flooded by many individuals who had little experience and technical knowledge, which left the consumer with fallen expectations. And the consumer technology that was available to the wedding videographer could not match up with broadcast quality at the time. Many tutorials out there have multiple programs and complicated steps. This tutorial is simple, easy and only requires one program. You will need the following program: Sony DVD Architect.

1) Open DVD Architect, import your clip into the right window where you see a menu tree item .
2) Delete the menu tree once you have the clip in there.
3) At the top of the software, locate: Make DVD
4) Select Burn, then select an path in which you will want to save your DVD folders, the video-ts and audio-ts. (These are the folders that will be copied onto the disc, have at least 10GB of space available)
5) Select next, then next again until you see at the top "select burn paramters"
6) Place the DVD into your DVD Writer. Name your DVD select the burn speed. (I normally choose 4X or 8X) Then select finish. (Architect will compress your movie into MPEG-2 first if it doesn't comply with the MPEG-2 video stream, it will then create the DVD folders needed to be burned onto the disc)
7) Test out your DVD by placing it into your TV stand-alone player, or play it with your computer with another DVD player software such as Power DVD.

We can also convert your family videos into DVDs for you if your pressing for time here at DVD Authoring Services.

Extracting a clip from a DVD

This tutorial will show you how to extract or take a clip from a DVD disc. You will need a DVD ROM on your computer and the Squared 5 software.

1. Put the DVD into your DVD ROM and open the drive, copy the video_ts folder from your DVD ROM onto your hard drive

2. Open Squared 5.

3. Load your video into squared 5 by selecting File->Open files. Select the video_ts folder where you've just copied it onto your hard drive from.

4. You will see several DVD files in that folder. Right click and view as details. Arrange it by the size. Select the file "VTS_01_1" If you have more then the same group of that for example: "VTS_01_2,VTS_01_3,VTS_01_4" Squared 5 will ask you whether you want to open all. Select open all to review the entire movie clip. It might ask to fix audio break points. Select Fix. Scrow through the video to find your clip that you want to convert to MPEG

5. If you want the entire video convert to MPEG, skip this step. Otherwise, select Edit->Select In. You have chosen the beginning of your clip. Now choose the ending of your clip by scrolling to the point where you want the clip to end and select Edit->Select Out.

6. Select File->Convert to MPEG. Choose a name and place you want to save your MPEG. Click Save.

7. Square 5 will now compress the video into the MPEG format. Once its completed, you'll be able to view it without the disc and it will be saved as a file.

If you have any questions, drop us an email or contact us at
Azure Production for more information. This tutorial will show you how to take footage's from your hard drive camcorder and convert into DVD without a DVD recorder.

You will need Sony Vegas, and Sony DVD Arthictect.

1) Turn on your hard drive camcorder and drag the *.mts files onto your hard drive.

2) Open Sony Vegas

3) Drag all the files onto the Vegas timeline in the order you want the videos to appear in. Also note that a DVD can hold up to 2 hours of video. I recommend exporting only 1:30hrs of it, because at the Vegas default compression, the video will fit just barely. You can change the Vegas default compression but you might loose some quality, its difficult to tell though.

4) Once you have the *.mts files in Vegas, on the top of the timeline, you can select a loop region which lets you export the specified time video. At the same line that you see the play pause and rewind buttons, over to the right are 3 different time codes. The one furthest to the right tells you the total running time of the region you will choose to export.

5) Select the region that you want to export again keep in mind to export only 1:30hrs of it.

6) Hold down ctrl and press M on the key board. A window will appear. In the drop down menu "save file type", Select Main Concept MPEG-2. Under the drop down menu "template" save as DVD NTSC for the north American video system. It will take a while to compress to DVD NTSC depending on your computer. For a 5 hour video, it took a total of 24 hrs to compress for me.

7) Open Sony DVD Architect and drag the saved file into the left part of the window. Remove the menu item by pressing delete on the key board. That way your DVD will play automatically when placed into the DVD player. Underneath the menu bar, select Make DVD. Then select burn, choose where you want to save the DVD files (video_ts & audio_ts folders). Select next, until you see the burning window in which you can name your DVD. Select the speed in which you want to burn at, I normally burn at 8X. Select finish. Remember to place an empty DVD-R into your DVD writer!

I hope that helps, we can also convert your hard drive video onto DVD at Azure Production

History of DVDs

In 1993, two high-density optical storage standards were being developed; You will need two software's by Sony. Sony Vegas, and Sony DVD Architect.

1. Open your project file in Sony Vegas. Once you have it loaded, on the timeline you will see this grey bar underneath the time with two arrows on both sides. This bar is used to select the part in the video that you will want to export. If you can find this bar, click anywhere within the timeline and press zero on the number pad. You will see it appear on the timeline under the time. Drag the arrows accordingly.

2. Next hold ctrl and press the letter "m" on the keyboard. A window will appear, select the name and folder in which you will want to save it in. In the format drop down box, select the format MPEG-2, then underneath, you'll see the template selection drop down box. Select DVD NTSC. Hit save.

3. Once your video has been exported, open Sony DVD architect and drag the video clip into the window that has a Menu item in it. It is on the top left corner of the screen. Once you are in DVD architect, you can now create menus, play buttons, and chapter selections.

Here at Azure Production, we also author DVDs for your personal needs, film, business and artists. There are many different ways of achieving this. I'm going to show you the way I do this. The following are items that you'll need:

1. MiniDV camcorder with 1394 (firewire connection)
2. Computer with Nero installed with about 20GB of free space and a DVD writer
3. Firewire connection
4. Sony DVD Architect
5. Sony Vegas Video Editor

The objective is to first capture the footage into the computer's hard drive. Then convert it into MPEG-2. Aftewards create the DVD folders and use nero to burn them onto the disc.

1. To capture the footage from the tape, connect the firewire with the camcorder, into the computer. Open Sony Vegas. Go to File->Capture video. Select DV press OK. Another window will pop up. Select Options->preferences. Select the disc management tab. Double click on the drive that you want to save your video in. Press OK and press Capture Video. Usually about 12GB/ hour of footage.

2. Once the entire tape has been captured. Drag and drop the video onto the Vegas Video Editor. The audio file will start building, I will cancel building of the audio levels at the bottom left corner of the software.

3. Export the video by holding ctr and pressing M on the key board. Under "save file type" select Main Concept MPEG-2. Under template select DVD NTSC for north american DVDs. Select save. It will take about 4.3GB / 1:30hrs of video. Note: You'll have to output it to two discs if its over 1:30hrs. You can fit everything onto one disc if you use another free program called DVD Shrink to compress it. By fitting everything onto one disc, export the file as explained above, then open DVD Shrink and compress the video with that software, the quality won't be as clear though.

4. Once you have compressed the video into MPEG-2, it is now time to make the DVD folder called video_ts. Open DVD Sony Architect. Drag the new MPEG-2 video into top left corner box where you see an item called Menu. Once the video is in there, select menu and press delete on the key board. That way, your video will play automatically once you place it into the DVD player. At the top select the Make DVD item. Select prepare, browse for a folder where you want to save your video and audio folders that DVD Architect will be creating. Select next until you see finish, press the finish key. Once its done open Nero.

5. To burn the video_ts folders that Architect has produced for you, open the program Nero. Select DVD video. Select the label tab and name your DVD. Press OK. Find your video_ts folder and open it. Drag all the contents into the burning window. Insert a DVD. Select the burn button located on the top where it has an image of a match and a CD. Select your burning speed. I normally burn at 8X. Check the simulation diaologue box if this is your first time burning a DVD. Press the Burn button. Once its done, test it on your DVD player!

Hopefully this tutorial has helped, we can also do this at Azure Production where we use DVD recorders to copy video onto DVDs.

tutorial converrt minidv to dvd computer dvd transfer video transfer camcorder instruction

New website!

In order to serve you better, we have updated our website to introduce CD and DVD duplication services.

Azure Production started video editing in 1999. On older units, you will see the counter move as you rewind/fast forward and play, but you will see no picture.

Another reason why your MiniDV isn't playing its because it was filmed in another video system for example PAL/NTSC/SECAM and your camcorder cannot recognize that format. You can rent, purchase or take it to a video transferring house and they will be able to transfer the video system into another system.

If you see images that look corrupted or distorted when playing back the MiniDV, your camcorder unit may need head cleaning. You can purchase a head cleaning tape or if it is severe, you can take it to a specialist and have them actually take out the head or even replace it with a new one.

I've also ran into problems where a particular camcorder will play a certain tape and won't work on another unit. A good example was when I had a canon camcorder and I captured video with a panasonic unit. The images came out distorted and the audio was choppy. In this case either purchase/rent another camera that can play the tape. You can also take it to the video transferring house

Hopefully these tips will help. Did you know that the more you view, rewind and fast forward the VHS tapes, the tape wears down and also puts stress on your VHS machine and eventually you'll have to change the heads? Its similar to when you take a piece of sand paper and rub it against your hand. When the tape passes through the heads in the VHS machine, the head needs to touch the magnetic tape in order to view the information stored in it. That is why over time, if the heads continue to rub the tape, the more worn the tape and heads become.

DVDs on the other hand are read in a different way. Through a laser. Instead of magnetic technology, the disc is burned with digital information decrypted into 0s and 1s. This information is burned onto the disc creating an uneven surface below the plastic naked to the human eye. When the laser detects a low area or a high area, the laser reads the information accordingly. The laser does not physically touch the disc and no rubbing is occur thus that is why DVDs if stored and kept well, tend to last longer over time when compared to analogue technology.

Here at Azure Production, we charge $15.00/hour to transfer your VHS to DVD.

DVD-R DVD-5 DVD-9 Explained

Brought to you buy Toronto Video Editing Services

DVD-5 is an acronym that means a DVD disc that is one-sided single-layer disc and can contain upto 4.38 gigabytes of data on it.

One form of DVD discs that means a single-sided dual-layer DVD disc. DVD-9 can hold approximately 7.95 gigabytes of data, even though marketers like to use the 8.5GB value instead, but this is misleading and is calculated by using so-called "Japanese gigabytes" which means that gigabyte is calculated as 1,000 megabytes, but in real computer terminology, gigabyte is 1,024 megabytes.

DVD-10 means a two-sided DVD disc that hold single data layer on both sides. Effectively this means that DVD-10 is a dual-sided DVD-5 and can hold 8.75 gigabytes of data with 4.38 gigabytes on each side. Two-sided discs need to be flipped over in order to access the other data side.

DVD-14 is a two-sided DVD disc that has one side which contains single layer of data and one side which contains two layers of data. In easier terms, the other side of the disc is DVD-5 and the other side of the disc is DVD-9.

DVD-18 in an acronym that means a two-sided DVD disc with two layers of data on both sides of the disc -- in other terms, it is a two-sided disc that holds DVD-9 disc on both sides of it.

For more information visit DVDs

Now offering duplication services in Toronto

Don't stress over a CD-ROM or DVD duplication project, we'll make it easy and painless for you.
